Summer 2008 Tuition and Fees

Statements concerning tuition and fees in this schedule are by way of announcement only and are not to be regarded as an offer of contract. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln expressly reserves the right to change any and all fees and/or tuition and other charges at any time without notice in advance of such a change

Following is the 2008 summer tuition and fees schedule for Undergraduate and Graduate courses. See note below on Distance Education "S", "F", and "X" courses.

* Health services are not included in any of the above UPFF. Any student registered for more than 4 hours in one single session will be assessed an additional one-time $51.65 UPFF for the Health Center. When a student is charged the one-time Health Center UPFF, the student has access to subsidized Health Center services for the entire summer. Students enrolled for fewer than 4 credit hours may voluntarily pay the summer fee at the University Health Center Business Office, 15th and U Street.

Distance Education "S", "F" and "X" Courses

The type of course you are taking is notated in the on-line Schedule of Classes under "Group Code". In the printed Schedule of Classes, this same information is indicated under "Type." See the Tuition Schedule below for the tuition rates applicable to your course. All distance education courses will be assessed a $25 per credit hour fee. In addition, students are assessed the "Technology Fee" of $7.35/credit hour, the "Library Fee" of $2/credit hour, and the $20 "Registration Fee" per semester. Some courses may also have additional "Special Fees".

NOTE: Students taking a combination of on-campus and distance education courses are assessed "University Program and Facility Fees" based on total hours of enrollment.

University Program and Facilities Fees -In addition to tuition, all enrolled students (except students enrolled only in Distance Education "S", "F", and "X" courses) must pay University Program and Facilities Fees based on their total hours of enrollment each semester. The rates are as listed below:

Health services are not included in any of the above UPFF figures. Any student registered for more than 4 hours in any one single session will be assessed an additional one-time $51.65 UPFF for the Health Center. When a student is charged the one-time Health Center UPFF, the student is entitled to subsidized Health Center services for the entire summer. Students enrolled for fewer than 4 credit hours may voluntarily pay the summer fee at the University Health Center Business Office, 15th and U Street.

Technology Fee -A student technology fee was initiated the first semester 1997 to provide information technology resources to all UNL students. This year the fee is $7.35 per credit hour with a $110.25 limit for the entire summer term.

Library Fee -A library fee of $2 per credit hour is charged.

Engineering Fee -An engineering fee of $40 per credit hour will be assessed on all courses offered by the College of Engineering and the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering and Biological Systems Engineering (this includes Agricultural Engineering and Mechanical Systems Management).

Course Fees - Courses with a special fee are listed in the Schedule of Classes followed by the notation, "Special Fee" and a dollar amount.

Architecture Professional Fee -An architecture professional fee of $24 per credit hour will be assessed to all courses offered by the College of Architecture.

Registration Fee -A registration fee of $20 is due each term (fall, spring, summer) a student registers for classes.

Late Registration Fee -A $25 fee is due for processing an initial registration during the Late Registration period.

International Student Fee -A $35 fee is due each term (fall, spring, summer) for international students.

Late Payment Fee -A late payment fee of $20 is assessed each month on delinquent accounts by the Office of Student Accounts.

Return Check Fee -A $30 fee is charged on all returned checks.

NCard -A charge of $20 is assessed for your original NCard and each time a replacement card is needed.

Refunds* -Students who drop or withdraw during the following period will receive an assessment reduction of all tuition and UPFF except for a $40 processing fee:

Pre-Session* First 2 days of the session
Eight-Week Session* First 4 days of the session
Five-Week Sessions* First 3 days of the session

After the periods noted above, students will receive assessment reductions based upon the following schedule:

Pre-Session* 50% through Friday of the first week; none thereafter.
Eight-Week Session* 75% through Friday of the first week; 50% through Friday of the second week; 25% through Friday of the third week; none thereafter.
Five-Week Sessions* 60% through Friday of the first week; 20% through Friday of the second week; none thereafter.

In all of the above instances, the time is figured from the first day of the session through the date the withdrawal or drop is processed through eNRoll or filed with the Registration & Records Office.

*Courses that meet for less than a session (mini-courses) follow a special prorated schedule for charges. Contact the Office of Student Accounts, 124 Canfield Administration Building, for the particular details.
