Policy on Billing and Collection of Tuition and Fees
All billing, accounting, and collection of tuition and fees related to college credit course offerings at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is to be processed by the Office of Student Accounts or Extended Education and Outreach. This is necessary for the following reasons:
- The complexities involved
in assuring proper and consistent assessment of the numerous,
Board of Regents approved, tuition and fee rates.
- Federal requirements
to report tuition, fee and scholarship information to the
IRS, and to our students, for the Hope and Lifetime Learning
Scholarship tax credits.
- To allow the university to properly report tuition discounts and allowances using the extremely detailed guidelines issued by the Governmental Accounting Standard Board.
