WAM / WAMS Questions

My monthly email notification goes into my junk email box. How do I change this?

Review your email provider's instructions to prevent this from occurring. Typically, adding our email address (stuacct@unlnotes.unl.edu) to your address book or safe list will correct the problem.

How do I authorize a parent or guest to view and pay my bill using WAMS?

The student can grant this authority in WAM by selecting the last option under "My Bill" -"Grant Access to Parent and Others". Tip: Select a password that your grantee will easily remember.

When I got to the "Printable Version" of my statement, it asks for PIN or password. Which one do I enter?

If you are on the WAM page, you will need to re-enter your 4-digit PIN number. If you are on the WAMS page, you will need to re-enter the password your student assigned to you. The "Printable Version" contains the student's name and ID number. This step is for additional security of this personal information.

Why can't I access the printable version of my statement?

Adobe Acrobat 4.0 or higher is required to view the Printer Friendly Statement. If you need the FREE software, you may obtain it from Adobe.

I have a recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, but still can't get the "Printable Statement". What can I do?

Try going to the Adobe or Microsoft support web sites for troubleshooting your problem. You can search by the specific error you are incurring or by more general searches (i.e. errors opening PDF). Look for those items applicable to your machine (i.e. Windows version, browser version). If you are not able to find a solution here, you may need to contact someone with more computer expertise. You may even try asking your student.

I have a Macintosh computer and am unable to access WAM/WAMS. What can I do?

There is an issue with accessing the WAM/WAMS site if you have a Macintosh computer and are using Internet Explorer as your browser. We recommend using either the Safari (http://www.apple.com/safari/) or Firefox (http://www.firefox.com or http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/all.html for OS X downloads) browser when logging on.

Statement Questions

What are the due dates for my bills?

UNL has a due date of the second Wednesday of each month. We provide a centralized billing system with charges from tuition and related fees, Housing, Telecommunications, Athletics, Health Center, Parking Services, and NCard. There can be an amount due in any and all months so you should check your bill on WAM or WAMS every month. It will be updated by the 25th of every month.

Why have I received a refund check but still have a balance on my account?

Charges have appeared on your account since the refund was ordered. This can occur due to a number of circumstances such as adding classes after your refund was ordered. Also, charges from the bookstore and other UNL departments are generally applied to accounts on a monthly basis and may not have appeared on your account yet when your refund check was ordered.

Who should I call with questions?

For questions relating to a specific charge on your bill, please contact directly the office which the charge was from.

Can I receive a printed copy of my bill?

A printed bill can be mailed to you each month upon the request of the student; however, we strongly encourage students and their families to utilize WAM or WAMS and print their own bills in order to greatly reduce postage and printing costs.

How do I designate a billing address?

As a cost saving measure, we strongly recommend that bills be viewed and then printed online. However, a student may request that a bill be sent and to whatever address they prefer by contacting the Office of Student Accounts at (402) 472-2887 or visit us at 124 Canfield Administration Building. This request cannot be accepted by anyone other than the student.

See Payment Options

What happens if I do not pay my account on time?

Sanctions will be imposed if your account becomes delinquent. This includes a $20 late payment fee each month the account remains delinquent.

How soon will I see my payment on WAM or WAMS?

The monthly statement on WAM/WAMS is updated only once a month (approximately the 25th of each month). Once created, it does not change. A more current version of your student account is available on WAM/WAMS at "Activity Since Last Monthly Statement". It is updated as new transactions post to the account.

If I can't get my statement to print, should I send in my payment without the payment coupon?

Yes. Just be sure to include your 8-digit student ID number and student name on the check so it may be credited to the proper student account.

Why do I mail my payment to Omaha instead of Lincoln?

We have contracted with an outside company to process our payments. This company is located in Omaha.

When making my online payment, do I have to pay the amount shown in the amount due box or can I pay a different amount?

The "Payment amount" field is automatically filled with the "amount due" figure from your latest billing statement. You can change this amount to reflect any amount you wish to pay. Make sure not to enter any dollar signs ($) or other non-numeric keys except the decimal point.

Are there payment plans for tuition?

Yes, UNL offers an optional payment plan through FACTS Management Company.

Can I get my hold released on my past due account when I pay by check?

Due to the large number of bad checks presented, the University delays the release of holds on accounts paid by personal checks (including electronic checks) for a period of three weeks. For an immediate release of the hold, payment must be made by cash, cashier's check, money order, or credit card.

Can I pay for my account by credit card?

Yes. Please refer to payment options.

Can I make a payment over the phone?

No, payments are not accepted over the phone. Please refer to payment options.

I only have a small balance due on my account. Do I really need to make a payment?

If your amount due is $5.00 or less, you may let that carry over and add it to the next month's amount due without any late fees or fines.
